Lunchroom Expectations

Please read over the following important lunchroom expectations from Shari Durrett, PES CNP Manager.

1.    We ask that all Teachers come into the serving area with their students. Especially Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Some days the plates are loaded and heavy and these kids can’t reach the plates from the top where servers are placing them, this also helps to remind students to grab their fruit or condiments that are in the cold area. Teachers helping the students as they come in can help get them through the serving area quickly.

2.  The Servers and Cashiers try their best to remind each student to grab everything they need before leaving the serving area (ex-Fruit, condiments and drinks) Some students say they don’t need those items then come back multiple times. We are trying to limit the number of students returning to the serving area as we are trying to batch cook for the next class.

3.  The students are always allowed to come back if they need a cup of water and to purchase extras hot meal items if they are still hungry. We do ask the Teachers to help us with this, all students need to enter and exit the serving area properly. They know they need to come pay for extras before getting them, but they need to enter through the enter door every time. Last year we had several accidents with students running in the exit door to pay for extras and crashing into students carrying full trays or cups of water. This can be avoided if we all enter and exit through the correct doors.

4.   As each class leaves the lunchroom, we ask that the teachers make sure they have students that are cleaning up after the class, this includes floors. Last year was not great, we realize the classes need to get back to their classroom, but if the teachers can take a second to inspect their table and the floor before leaving it would be easier for each kid to pick up what they dropped instead of leaving a few students to clean up a huge mess. Last year we had several classes come to eat and tables were left a mess, these classes shouldn’t have to clean up after the class before them or sit at a dirty table.

5.   Please use the yellow, red, and green cups at your table. They will be placed in the lunchroom this week.  There are times it is so loud in the lunchroom that the cashiers can’t hear the student that is checking out at the registers, or if an announcement comes over the intercom nobody can hear a word that is being said.

6.

Paine Precepts - Respect

M:  “Treat people exactly as you would like to be treated by them.” – Golden Rule
T:  “I firmly believe that respect is a lot more important, and a lot greater, than popularity.” – Julius Erving
W: “It’s not so much the journey that’s important; as is the way that we treat those we encounter and those around us, along the way.” – Jeremy Aldana
T: “Respect is a two-way street, if you want to get it, you’ve got to give it.” – R.G. Risch
F: “One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say.” – Bryan H. McGill
