Weekly Update

            C Week - August 29-September 2 


New Teachers - American Fidelity

New Teachers: Please visit American Fidelity during your planning time on Monday 8/29 regarding your employee benefits.  They will be in the South Conference Room on the 4th Grade Hall.


Wednesday Collaboration  - ACAP Data Meetings

We will use our collaboration time on Wednesday analyze our spring ACAP data.  We will also plan interventions.


Thursday - Early Release Time

We will have grade level collaboration from 2:15 - 3:00 on Thursday.  Please meet in your grade level chair's classroom.


Constitution Day

Constitution Day is September 17th.  Please collaborate with your team to design meaningful lessons about the constitution for that day.  Prior to September 17th, please provide your detailed plans. We look forward to seeing the lessons you have prepared.  If you take pictures during these lessons, please send to Ellen Howard to document this important day.  Reminder:  Please make sure you have detailed evidence of Constitution Day lessons in your plans for state monitoring.


AFT Visit - Friday

AFT will be visiting Paine on Friday from 7:00-8:00 am.  They will be in the North Training Room if you would like to stop by.

Morning Meetings


The morning meetings at Paine are going GREAT!  You are all investing in the social and emotional well being of our students through this process!  Remember:  Morning meetings should be held between 8:05-8:15. If it works better to have students do the Rhithm app right after your morning meeting, please make that adjustment.  Thank you for your dedication to your morning meetings!!!
   






Monday Afternoon

If you were unable to attend the School Safety Meeting on Friday, please make plans to attend the make-up session after school on Monday.  We will meet in the North Training Room at 3:10.

Lockdown Drill

Information was sent out to parents (in our Paine Post) today regarding our Lockdown Drill next week.  Please remember to use the script provided in your safety book to inform students about the drill that morning.  Listen for the announcement on the intercom (around 8:15) on your designated day below.
  • South Building - Wednesday, August 24th 
  • North Building - Thursday, August 25th
Due to the lockdown drill, 5th Grade PE on Thursday, August 25th will be moved to 1:00.


Wednesday Collaboration

This week we will briefly go over the Teacher Handbook (that we didn't get to on Thursday) as well as our PST (Problem Solving Team) Process.  Please bring your Teacher Handbook to collaboration.  In addition, we will focus on the following topics for the designated groups below:
  • Kindergarten - Baseline ESGI data & Intervention Plans
  • 1st Grade - Begin discussions of Math Unit 2
  • 3rd Grade Literacy - Next planning steps
  • 4th & 5th - Training on how to administer AIMs ORF 


Thursday - Early Dismissal

This time will be designated for faculty and staff to finish the online required training that is due by 9/8.  Please make sure you also complete the required EL training by that date.  Both links are provided below.

The link below will take you to the annual EL Training video. It contains general information about English Learners and some simple strategies that can be used in the classroom. Please have teachers watch the video and complete the quiz by following the link at the end of the video. Teachers may have to copy and paste the link to the quiz into their web browser. The quiz is due by September 9th.

Visititation is on Friday beginning at noon - 1st Baptist.  The service begins at 2:00 and the burial will be around 3:00 at Jefferson Memorial.

Weekly Update


Congratulations on a great start to our school year! You did a great job this week and our students looked so happy to be back in school.   We started our week with a focus on our BECAUSE or WHY.  Our Meet the Teacher was a huge success!  Then, we had a great first three days with our students!  Our students are blessed with wonderful teachers and staff....and our teachers and staff are blessed with incredible students!

Announcement Helpers

Students With Birthdays that Day

Please send students who have birthdays each day to the office BY 7:55 to help with announcements.  (Please have an adult assist the little ones to the office and we will bring them back.)  Students with birthdays on Sunday should be sent with Monday birthdays and those with birthdays on Saturdays should be sent with Friday birthdays.  



Classroom Schedules

Once you have your classroom schedule finalized, please post a copy outside of your door and email a copy to our admin team.



AIMS Testing Schedule

AIMs Web Plus will be utilized in K-5 for both Math and Reading again this year.  Our AIMS testing window is August 15 - September 9.  Please see important information below.

Math Testing:
  • The testing team will not be administering math this year.  TCS Kindergarten and 1st Grade teachers will administer their own math tests (1:1 ratio for testing in these grades...teacher:student).  We will meet with PES Kindergarten and 1st Grade Math teachers during Wednesday collaboration to come up with a plan for our school.  
  • Math testing for 2-5 will be on Chromebooks (administered by teachers during this testing window).
Reading Testing

  • A testing team will be utilized to administer all reading to Kindergarten and 1st grade.
  • A testing team will administer the ORF portion for 2nd & 3rd grade.
  • Students in grades 2-5 will take the other portion on their Chromebooks in the classroom.



Wednesday Collaboration 

We will meet in your collaboration rooms on Wednesday to work on lesson planning.  Please begin your meetings by going over your PLT's Norms.


Thursday Afternoon

Early dismissal begins on Thursday.  Faculty and Staff will meet at 2:15 in the North Training room.  At this time we will go over our School Safety Plan and Unpack our Teacher Handbook. 


Please remember there are no children in this meeting, so please make necessary arrangements for Thursday early dismissal.
