PACE Character Trait: Integrity
Cognia Accreditation
Trussville City Schools will be going through our accreditations interviews this week via Zoom. They will be interviewing administrators, a selection of teachers (who have been notified), and a group of students in grades 3-5. If you see a sign on a door (Monday or Tuesday) that someone is participating in one of these interviews, please do not disturb.
Make-ups & Virtual Picture Day
We will have make-up pictures and virtual student pictures made Monday morning in the North Gym.
Wednesday Collaboration
We will continue to work on IE Block Planning and setting goals for students on PST.
Thursday Afternoon
Please use this time to catch up in your rooms so you will be ready for a restful Fall Break!
Educator Effectiveness
Please complete your self-assessment in Schoology, Then, use this to develop your PLP. Remember, our school indicator is Positive Classroom Environment. We will be meeting with teachers on the evaluation cycle as soon as this is complete. The self-assessment and PLP are due by 10/30.
Guidelines for Student Usage of Technology
Please remember that our face-to-face students did not sign up for virtual. Please be mindful that they should get the great lessons we have always provided and should not be receiving lessons on the computer a significant portion of the day. Please have students put their Chromebooks in their desks, or at least keep them closed, except when they are utilizing them for an assignment. We realize many older students are submitting assignments on Schoology, but they do not need them open until it is time for the assignment submission. It has come to our attention that some students are going to various sites while the teacher is teaching. We have also been told some students are shifting to Google to look up answers while taking AR tests. We have not confirmed, but wanted to make you aware. We will check with Technology on an update on utilizing Go Guardian with Schoology. We are so thankful to be one-to-one and know how much technology enhances instruction, but with that comes significant responsibility. Our students' safe and productive usage of technology is a top priority.
Student Cell Phones
Please remind students that cell phones or smart watches (where they can text, etc.) are not allowed at school unless they are turned off and stored in their backpacks. A warning may be issued the first time. Another offense will result in an office referral and confiscation of the device.
Intervention Walkthroughs
Intervention Walkthroughs will start this week (as mentioned in our collaboration on Wednesday). We will be gathering data based on the following questions:
- Is the teacher working with small group? How many are in group?
- What is the focus skill(s) for the small group?
- What resources are being utilized for the small group?
- What are the other students doing?
Your planning and efforts during the IE Block are going to increase learning for ALL students!
