Weekly Update

                    B Week - February 6-10

North PE will be outside this week (weather permitting)

PACE Character Trait for February - KINDNESS
Please talk about this throughout the month in your morning meetings.

Paine Practice ... Best Practice

Mrs. Foust is rotating around to provide students guidance; students are using a graphic organizer to sort out their thoughts and write their Renaissance essays.

Mrs. Lutz utilizing the "Turn & Talk" strategy to deepen student knowledge of compare & contrast before students begin organizing their thoughts before writing. She is an "active" listener in the "turn & talk".

Mrs. Johnson & Mr. Wall are also active listeners during a "turn & talk" to address a new fraction concept; students are working through a common misconception.

Mrs. Rice facilitating a lesson on comparison contrast to provide students with the tools to organize their thoughts before writing.

Mrs. Weyerman uses the Engineering Design Process for students to design a House of Cards during weekly "Count Me In" Time.  She placed videos on Schoology for student research and had students draw a written plan before construction began.

Mrs. Swann's students were so engaged while learning about several types of figurative language.

STEM Certification Update

Our STEM Certification Portfolio and Writing are complete!  I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our STEM Leadership Team  for the great work you did on developing our portfolio.  I also want to extend a special thank you to the following for bringing it all together and writing, reviewing, and editing to prepare for our submission:  Susan Brandon, Janet Benson, Hannah McCauley, Elizabeth Moffett, & Nicole Jenkins. We also want to thank April Chamberlain and Rachel Brockman for their continued guidance and support!

Our next step will be interviews conducted by an outside review team (not sure of the timeframe yet).  We will all participate in an activity during our Faculty Meeting on Thursday to unpack the STEM standards, and review and celebrate the portfolio showing the great STEM related initiatives and activities at Paine.

STREAM Studio

Don't forget to book your classes for a collaborative lesson in the STREAM Studio.  The learning we have prepared will serve as a in-depth math review for your students.

To Book the STREAM Studio (space only):

·        Please use the PES Room Scheduler (also on the Paine Peeps blog) to book the room itself.

To Book STREAM Studio Collaboration (with Hannah McCauley):

·        Sign up for times here and email me about what lesson you'd like to do. Please make sure to also book the space using the PES Room Scheduler (also on the Paine Peeps blog).

·        Time slots are listed in 15 minute increments to have as much flexibility as possible for the exact start/end times that you need.

·        If you need different times than what's listed, please schedule the closest available time and email me with the details of exactly what times you need! (For example, if you need your time slot to start at 8:20, but the schedule only shows 8:15, go ahead and book the 8:15 time and email me.)

·        Book as many slots as you need to cover the amount of time that your lesson will take!

·        If you have a specific lesson idea that you'd like to work on together, please email me so we can work on it together!
