Weekly Update

 

Thank you so much for your flexibility and hard work during our ACAP practice testing week!  A special thank you to our counselors for their preparation.  We look forward to analyzing this data soon.  We are blessed with the most amazing faculty and staff at PES!


B Week - February 3-7, 2025

Winter AIMS Web Testing

We will have PST meetings during collaboration time on Wednesday (North Training Room).

Paine VIP Valentine Dance

ACAP Practice Testing


The ACAP practice testing for Grades 2-5 begins Monday am, January 27th. On Monday, 4th grade will take the science test and we will begin small groups with reading & math.  This week, please make sure you take your students to the restroom right after announcements so we will be ready to begin our testing promptly at 8:30.  

Testing Schedule


Monday - 4th Grade Science & Small Groups
Tuesday - ELA: 2nd & 3rd (Sessions 1,2,4), 4th & 5th (Sessions 1,2), Small Groups
Wednesday-ELA: Session 3, Small Groups
Thursday-All Math, Small Groups


Modified PE Schedule (Monday-Thursday)

We will be on a modified schedule Monday - Thursday due to ACAP practice testing.  There will be no specials. We plan to begin PE at 10:45 (but please wait on word that testing is complete before proceeding to PE).  We will try to have outside PE if weather permits.  If we are able to do this, we will be using the north field and south playground.  Monday-Thursday PE times are listed below.

10:45-11:15  - 1st Grade

11:15-11:45  - 4th Grade

11:45-12:15   -  5th Grade

12:15-12:45 - 3rd Grade   

12:45-1:15 - Kindergarten    

1:15-1:45  - 2nd Grade

If you have to change your recess time or location due to testing on Monday-Wednesday,  please notify the office so we know when and where you will be.



Important Testing Reminders

  • Please remind your parents of our testing schedule and the importance of our students being on time, getting enough rest and eating a good breakfast.  Please encourage students to do their very best!  
  • There should be no activity/traveling through the building beginning at 8:10 until you receive word that morning group testing is complete.
  • We will begin the PE schedule as soon as whole group testing is complete. We will get the word out, but will not make an intercom announcement due to continued small  group testing.
  • Travel in hallways should be limited and students should remain supervised and quiet.
  • Please avoid hallways that have "testing" signs.
  • K & 1: Please do not allow students to use Chromebooks from 8:00-11:00 to help us avoid any technical issues while students are testing.
  • K & 1: Please make sure your classes are completely quiet if you have to travel to a location. Please avoid any testing hallways.

 

Winter AIMS Web Testing

Our Winter Testing Window is open for Aims. Our TCS testing team will continue testing 1st Grade, Kindergarten, and 2nd/3rd ORF only.  


Thursday (Early Release)

Sped teachers will participate in a meeting/training in the North Training Room.
All other teachers will plan with their grade level teams.

PES TDW Plan

Everyone did a great job this week on our TDW plans during collaboration. Thank you to Jenni Peters for leading us in these efforts.  I am so excited about our plans!!!  The revised overall plan is shown below.




Winter AIMS Web Testing

Our Winter Testing Window is open for Aims. Beginning 1/15, our TCS testing team will begin testing all 1st Grade, Kindergarten, and 2nd/3rd ORF only.  Teachers may begin administering the assessment for 4th & 5th and the computerized portion for 2nd & 3rd as soon as students return on 1/7. Our goal is to have all testing complete by 1/24 so we can have our data meetings the following week.


ACAP Practice Test

The ACAP Practice Tests will be administered to all students in grades 2-5 the week of  1/27 - 1/31.  We will adhere to the testing protocols following in the spring. 

Please include in your parent communication the following information:
  • Send in wired headphones for their child.
  • No lunch visitors the week of the practice test.


Wednesday - PST

Please come ready for PST during your planning time on Wednesday.


Thursday Early Release Time


We will use this time for collaboration and planning. Selected math teachers will have training at the CO (Weyerman's monthly group).

Our MSIT (Math School Improvement Team) worked to develop a math vision statement for Paine.

Our Literacy Teachers collaborated with Jenni Peters to work on our Text Dependent Writing Plan!

Students in Mrs. Darnell's 5th grade class are learning about gravity and designing parachutes.

PES TDW Plan

Thank you to everyone for your full participation on our Monday training on Text Dependent Writing.  Listed below is our skeleton plan for TDW, but I know some grade levels have already revised this to be more specific to their grade level.  Please continue to bring you TDW materials to collaboration each Wednesday up until spring testing.

Literacy Teachers will work on TDW Planning with Mrs. Peters.  Please bring all materials for upcoming unit and TDW materials provided in our training this week.


Thursday Early Release Time


All faculty & staff will participate in important MTSS training on Positive Behavioral Supports.  It will start at 2:15.
